The Pauline Café & Bistro Setting ★★★★★

Pauline café & bistro is located right in the heart of St-Pauli, just a few minutes walk from Feldstraße U-Bahn station. The French bistro decoration is gorgeous and the atmosphere is cosy.

The café is very popular so expect a full house on weekends. If you can afford to book early, I recommend asking for the upstairs sitting-room: the sofas and armchairs are the most comfortable and the room itself offers more privacy.

The Tea & Beverage Selection ★★★

I strongly recommend sticking to the “Pauline’s Tee Garten” in-house blends. The tea is served in a gorgeous teapot and each loose-leaf tea bag is so generously filled that it’s possible to have at least a couple of infusions. The Rooibos-Vanilla is the best of the lot.

The Rooibos-Vanilla is the best of the lot, you may even want to buy some to take back home!

The Breakfast Food ★★★

From Monday to Friday and if you have a good appetite, I strongly recommend the Pauline & Paul breakfast at 20.50€ for two. Each guest gets smoked salmon, ham & charcuterie, cheese, salad, fresh fruits, bread & croissants as well as a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice or sparkling wine.

The ingredient quality is excellent and everything is fresh, including the bread and pastries. If the breakfast is too rich for you (or not enough so), the Bircher Müsli is marvellous and well worth the extra 3.60€.

On Sundays, the breakfast is replaced by a brunch buffet at 17.90€/person. The contents of the buffet change all the time so it’s more difficult to evaluate, but the food is often both original and tasty.

Despite its redeeming qualities, I’m not that keen on buffets so I do have a preference for the regular Monday to Saturday breakfast.

Service ★★★

The staff is politely efficient, highly responsive and speaks good English.

Conclusion & Overall Mark ★★★★★

The Pauline café & bistro never disappoints, whether it’s for breakfast, brunch, lunch or a snack.

It is easily among the best breakfasts in Hamburg and especially so if you’re keen on tea quality and fancy a healthy / vegan-friendly treat.
